Hi Thomas,  This can be mounted as pictured, or, if you select a no tray unit, it can be mounted vertically too. 

You could flip it around 180 degrees, but only on a no-tray unit (otherwise, the tray would be on the top).  If you select a no-tray unit, and since this board is magnetic, you could mount it anyway you like and add a magnetic marker tray..  Give us a call or please provide your phone number, we actually have a lot options to accomplish what we think you're trying to do.
