For best results the surface you're mounting to should be very smooth. The smoother the better. Any texture will telegraph through the material. It will not affect the writing surface at all but you will see the texture. A heavy wall texture may adversely affect the adhesion of the product.
When mounting using the Installation Kit be careful not to apply too much pressure. This may stretch out the materials and create wrinkles which may not settle back down. Just a firm application pressure is all that is required.
Please Note: If you mount Opti-Rite® Lite directly onto a wall and later go remove it, you may have to repaint the surface once removed however since the adhesive is a semi-permanent type. Once the adhesive sets up over a longer period of time it may remove some paint from the wall upon removal but no more than any other heavy vinyl type wall covering that is installed using a wall paper glue or adhesive.

Yes, this material should work quite well on a nice smooth glass surface.Â

It is impossible to say how this material would stick to old cork and how well the cork would hold up, our suggestion would be to contact our sales department at 1-866-366-1500 and ask for their suggestions and perhaps a sample of the Opti-RIte lite that you could test on your corkboards.Â

Regena from St. Petersburg, FL asked:
Can you apply this to say a piece of painted MDF material so it can be hung up or installed in the back of a cabinet?
This should work great as long as the surface is smooth and the paint is fully dried and cured.

Darrell Huffman from TN asked:
It really depends on how long you plan to have it installed. If the surface is primed and clean, and it is installed for a shorter period of time, it does come off easily. But if left for an extended period of time it could remove a layer of paint, much like any off-the-shelf vinyl tape. If you have any follow up questions, please call our sales department 866-366-1500, as we'd be more than happy to send out a sample for testing purposes.Â

Thank you for your question. If you are applying the Opti-Rite over your magnetic chalkboard, it should keep its magnetic receptiveness. Another option for resurfacing a magnetic board is our magnetic dry erase sheets. (https://mywhiteboards.com/dry-erase-magnetic-sheets.html) These work great on any worn-out magnetic chalkboards or whiteboards, and they are easy to apply and roll up for storage.Â
